You boys going to the andyvine meet?

I’m not sure if I can make either day at the mo but if plans change then sure I’d be up for a pint :slightly_smiling_face:

Haha!!! I like to compare it to the bike meet photos, so bright, so colourful, so healthy… whereas we lurk in the boozy shadows

Sorry to have missed this. Glad you had (what sounds like) a good night.

 @anon32406580 - great news about Wednesdays! - rant follows… - I asked for the same thing very recently (but with my hours compressed into four days, so no real loss to my employer) - refused - was told my job is a five day a week gig - offered them a compromise of two half-days off so I’d be in every day, or a nine day fortnight, or a trial run, and pointed out that I’d not worked more than a four day week over the last two months or so after having individual days of annual leave off, weekly, for two months, and no-one had noticed or batted an eyelid during that time, and that my role profile states ‘mainly office-based and work generally planned well in advance’ - still refused - was told my job is a five day a week, morning and afternoon reactive gig AND THAT’S THAT - pffffffft :imp: - apologies for the rant - genuinely chuffed for ya :+1:

I just came to Glasgow on holiday and just missed this,

But what I should I do here, any good gigs coming up very shortly that I should go to?

How long are you here? What sort of stuff do you like?

I’m here for about a week but might also be going to the isle of Lewis as well. I’d be keen to see some good local bands, I’ve seen the art galleries and museums before, any interesting bars or shops really, any old architecture.

spent ages there trying to dig up older threads as i’m sure there was one with some decent advice not too long ago but couldn’t find any.

not sure what’s on this week but the skinny is usually a decent place to check for gig listings / events etc

good breweries / bars to check out: the drygate & west (standard response) stereo, mono, nice n sleazy of course… they’re the usual disser type haunts

hope you enjoy

@japes has covered most of them.

Would recommend St. Luke’s, is a converted church venue space/bar. There’s a couple of things on this week, including the sugar hill gang on friday.

http://www.kingtuts.co.uk/whats-on#/june-2017 has stuff on most nights.

Bars that japes hasn’t mentioned:
Central - shilling brewing co, hippo taproom, saramago at the cca, yesbar
West - hug & pint, Inn deep, six degrees north, grunting growler, West on the corner
South - clockwork brewing.

Also, there’s a few events of this left http://www.westendfestival.co.uk/events/

Allison Arms is the essential south side pub imo  Glad Cafe is good too, also a venue

Allison Arms is good - the Dancehall at the Rum Shack across the street sometimes has good gigs on as well.

There was a thing in the guardian as well recently that might be useful:

Recommend heading to Broadcast on Sauchiehall Street on Thursday night. Band called Football Etc. playing, they’re american but there’s a really good Glasgow band called Undo supporting.
