This hostel is 40 quid in Charing cross/edge of city centre. if you get no. 4 bus from there it will get you to queens park in less than 30mins
How was it?
Itâs on my list of places to try.

An other option would be Premier Inn (Peel Park) just outside East Kilbride and is on number 6 bus route from city centre/queens park and looks cheap. Takes half an hour from queens park and last bus would be like half past midnight so wouldnât need to leave early or anything.

I donât usually go to places like this so canât really compare to anywhere else but I am royally stuffed full with great food!

Recommend this walk on Bute, not that long but round the southern tip of the island, maybe feels slightly longer than 5 miles as thereâs a bit of mild rock clambering.
Could quite easily do it on a day trip as thereâs a bus to the start.
Also did 2nd part which starts well but quite a long stretch in between 2 farmers field with hedges either side.
On a similar island note I spent a bunch of time in the Arran mountains recently and had a great time. These were both great:
Caisteal Abhail, via North Glen Sannox
CÏr Mhòr and Beinn Tarsuinn
One small awkward section on the downclimb from Beinn Tarsuinn (I had to crawl through a small gap between boulders basically) but otherwise was pretty straightforward

Can anyone recommend a bar/cafe in the west end that wonât be really noisy in the evening?
West end basically anywhere on the subway between Patrick and great western road
Depends how quiet you need it to be but Cottiers maybe, if thereâs not a show on?

@GoldFlakePaint Cottiers is going to be busy (plus thereâs a big wedding there today) and I find it quite distracting to sit in, all the conversation bounces around the walls and makes it seem much louder than it actually is. Iâve never liked the bar at Oran Mor for the same reason, find them both quite overwhelming. Most pubs are going to be full of people and Glaswegians arenât exactly the quietest talkers in the worldâŚ
Itâs small, so might not be easy to get a seat, but the second 1841 coffee shop on Hyndland Road is open until 10pm and does a nice wee selection of beers, wines and cocktails. As itâs very much a cafe rather than a pub it doesnât tend to be as boisterous. For a quieter pub my only real guess is maybe the Aragon on Byres Road, depending on whoâs in.
Edit to add: As itâs a decent enough temperature today, if youâre up for sitting outside then either Cottiers or The Rock might be good bets. Wouldnât necesarily recommend indoors at either

Itâs a bit further away but The 78 is usually quite a chill atmosphere.
Sparklehorse is good if you sit outside

Would always use the icafes when studying for work course, as open fairly late, pretty much always space and quite. Think only one left on Woodlands Road
