cottiers on hyndland road is a good shout, my da is pretty much the same in terms of eating exclusively fish & chips or steak pie and he loves the food in there

I love ox and finch but you have to be ok with the concept. it’s sharing plates and each plate is really a blend of two or three ingredients (all fresh and lovely and tasty) but usually a little bit quirky too.

I took my mum there once forgetting that LESLEY DOESN’T SHARE and given that the whole concept of the food revolves around sharing and mix/matching 4-5 dishes, it made for a rather awful meal where she had (pleasingly) two scallops and a medallion of lamb and I ended up with a dollop of minty courgettes and some sodding crudities.
