Idles got that at least 50 percent wrong. That’s the best way to become a Tory.

Playing the “download the app and fill out the what I would see if I was there” game and finding it really threadbare. My Sunday would only have Kamasi (who I just saw at APE) plus Chris, Janelle and The Cure who are all clashing. THATS IT.

The Park also looks so thin all weekend for my personal taste as well. Could usually spend all weekend there, but only IDLES and Hot Chip would tempt me.

If I was going I would still undoubtedly have a great time, but would need to rely on you kind folk for recommendations for sure.

See, I think it’s really strong, but that’s because the dance lineup has never been better. And cmon, Kylie on Sunday, don’t be silly.

Feel they should start releasing the dance line up with the rest of it. Somehow makes it feel like a quaint sideshow when, come on, it’s 2019 and we’ve been listening to electronic music for like 40 years now.

Same with Primavera until like 2 years ago. Felt much less snobby when they started announcing the DJs with the rest of the stuff rather than as an afterthought

The dance line up is pretty great, it’s just a horrible clashfest

What do you mean? Almost every stage/area had its own separate announcement - besides the Pyramid/Other/John Peel I think all of them did, actually. If you’re referring to the “original poster drop” that’s always been the 5 main stages, then sure, I guess, but they also don’t announce anything from the other 50 odd stages then either, and I don’t think many people consider them an afterthought.

Fair play. It always seemed to me that you had those five stages, then the rest of it, then oh wait here’s some DJs too, somewhere much closer to the time of the festival

Yeah I getchu, I think the stage announcements has gone a good way to mitigate that, the full lineup drop is a hell of a lot to absorb too, so helps in that respect.

Anybody know what Lauryn Hill is like live? I really want her to be good, but I’ll feel bad missing Rosalia if she’s a let down

Shes meant to be incredible IF she shows up.

I

The problem with Hill is that she no-shows a lot of events, or turns up late and plays short sets. But if you get lucky apparently you get really lucky

She played at Blenheim Palace last weekend. Turned up an hour late for a 1hr45mins set with a strict curfew, spent about three minutes between each song giving her band shit, then did some weird speech about majoring on peace and love and respect to a massively pissed off audience.

In short: don’t get your hopes up.

Kylie played the next day and was fucking spectacular. Definitely go to that.

She seems like a massive risk for a festival tbh although I guess with Glastonbury they have so many other acts it’s not going to cause too much damage if she has has a rubbish set or causes logistical problems.

yeah we got lucky in Glasgow last year. She was ~1 hour late but came out and was amazing. Played everything you would want to hear. Paris the day or two before was awful apparently.

If Glastonbury just tell her she’s on at 1600 but her sets actualy at 1700 she’ll be bang on time.

Giving Charlene a miss I’m afraid, I’m not a big enough fan that my determination to see her would override the big crowd anxiety. The thought of what getting a spot for Miley will be like has been giving me jitters for about a month, but she’s my number 1 must see of the weekend so I’m going to be able to cope with it.

Glastonbury as promoters won’t give a fuck if she turns up or not – if she doesn’t arrive and do her set in the allocated timeslot, she doesn’t get her cheque, just like every other band that’s playing. It’s really that simple. I’ve never known the festival to rearrange things or push back slots to accommodate an artist and I doubt they’d start doing it now.

tiny bit jealous seeing as it’s probably not going to rain

Volunteering for Oxfam this year. Been here since Monday. First steward shift today. Also just had my first shower in 20 years of going to Glastonbury. Euphoric.

'95 calling! Evan Dando missed his afternoon slot due to drugs, they squeezed him in later in the day before Portishead and shit kicked off. Was gutted at the time because I was at the earlier no-show and didn’t know about the rescheduling. In hindsight, it looks like I dodged a bullet!

shit festival for shit cunts
