They usually check our residents parking permit and we’re good to go. Ours is run by a guy who I reckon is ex-military. Wears a beret and army surplus gear. Very shouty.

Just took a car load to the dump, i was originally shut with a huge queue so I went back an hour later when it was empty.

Was worth it as I got a satisfying smash from an old toaster.

I have been once, massive queue, you had to separate everything into their own sections which were miles from each other. Any experience with using a man with a van (men with ven?) or other waste disposal services? Rough reasonable prices? Much smalltalk / help required? It is at least a car load with seats down if not a van, if I can pay someone to shift everything from my garage in one go it might be worth it.

Our Dump has one of those compactor things that you chuck household waste in and a huge piston smooshes it all into a tiny cube. Often wondered about tipping over whilst throwing away something particularly unwieldy (I am very clumsy and tall so this is not a 0 possibility) and how being smooshed to death would be a particularly grisly way to go out.

Depends on the individual council. Down our way you have to book a visit with anything larger than a car regardless of anything else.

actually yeah i remember some fucking cunts turning me away in bristol. I just had two large pieces of foam in the back of the van that i wanted to get rid of and they wouldn’t even let me walk them in.

Having not been in the 18 months since we moved here, I’ve been 3 times this week.

Did two car loads yesterday morning. We chopped down a massive Jasmin plant in our garden (which when we were hacking at it realised there was a rose in there and some other unidentified thing) on Sunday, which had completely taken over one corner and has given us about 20% more garden (which was quite handy since we had friends round for a barbecue yesterday).
