Used to work with this guy Saj who whenever he saw me would say:

“doubleespresso, how are you? What are you doing this evening? Inshallah it will be a good evening”

Which made me feel warm inside

I did a couple of weeks at Royal Caribbean a long time back

Likewise if someone comes in wearing a suit or dressed slightly smarter than they would normally:

“How was the job interview?”
or
“How was court?”

And you reply

classic.

See I wear a suit every day, so nobody will be any the wiser if I’ve applied for another job or been had up for murder.

Playing the long game.

‘The funeral was very emotional thanks’

Some of these are more shabs or bants than small talk, tbh.

My small talk is usually someone asking me “what did you do at the weekend?” and me saying “ooh not much, just chilled, what about you?” and then them boring on about what their kids got up to or whatever

People know not to ask me any more or I’ll start going on about driving to Stevenage to play cards.

Not much small talk on my team, there is one guy who tries, feel a bit sorry for him as he just ends up small talking into the void

Used to enjoy waiting for the inevitable responses after the old “Oh, went to see a band.” but Tomoko Sauvage ruined that one for everybody.

Yep. I let other people do the questioning, and my answers will be “yeah” or “fine” depending on the question.

Poor Elon.

“Lancs lost again, then…”

Just had this happen after helping a colleague

Jordan - “Always HTH”
Sue in Payroll - “HTH?”
Jordan “Happy to help. See I’m helping now!”

Really going to run this into the ground

When Trump was in London last week, my work colleague phoned me up and asked me if I’d seen the Osprey’s flying around outside and when I said no he told me to have a look out of the window. After a few seconds of me looking out of the window and being confused, he explained that he meant the US military planes.

Had a good conversation in the work kitchen this morning about how computers and any other appliance with a digital clock keeps time.
