Good UK/European festival line ups 2018

#1

They’re prettttaaay bit thin on the ground this year aren’t they? Hence the thread.

Down the Rabbit Hole in Beuningen has one of the best line up I’ve seen with Queens of the Stone Age, David Byrne, Anderson Paak, Fever Ray, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, St Vincent, James Holden, Sampha, The Oh Sees and more. Not sure can be bothered travelling to the arse end of nowhere in the Netherlands for it though. Anyone been?

Inevitably will just end up going to Primavera whatever they end up offering but this thread is for shopping around.

sorry m7. i lived in the netherlands and i’d never even heard of it

(sure it’s a great place to be though. love the netherlands, love the dutch)

All good, I hadn’t heard of this festival before you posted this, and now I’m definitely going, so it’s a net positive.

this is the current front-runner for me

This Is Not A Love Song looks good

Good thread this. Really keen to go to a European festival thats not Primavera. Down the rabbit hole looks great, but bad weekend for it.

#9

That is off to a good start. And in the South of France, so the weather is likely to be nice.

There’s also Forbidden Fruit in Dublin, seems to have picked up a bunch of (presumably) Primavera bands http://www.forbiddenfruit.ie/

Annoying that it goes onto a Monday though (though it is a bank holiday there so I guess makes sense).

Would seriously be considering one of these others if I didn’t already have a Primavera ticket.

#11

Two of the Green Man headliners on the one day too.

#12

Yeah, unless Primavera is astonishing I think I’ll give it a miss this year and try somewhere new – it seems a shame to go to just one every year just out of habit when there’s umpteen great (and far cheaper) ones in beautiful places.

#13

I really need to ween myself off my Primavera Barcelona addiction and spread my wings.

(It is really good though.)

#14

My thoughts exactly. Managed to tear myself away from Barcelona for Porto last year. This is definitely the year I completely break free (Have refused to book anything else until after Primavera lineup is released just in case it’s amazing)

Went to Best Kept Secret last year and it was reasonably priced and really beautiful. This year:

The National / LCD Soundsystem / Four Tet / Chvrches / Deerhunter / Father John Misty

Was looking at that last year! Good vibes? Festival site?

INmusic in Zagreb looks pretty good. Same headliners as that Down the Rabbit hole and under fifty quid for just the festival ticket. Monday to Wednesday, which has pros and cons.

Yes, Skunk Anansie seems to be above Nick Cave.

Definite lack of uk festivals being recommended here. Got tickets for eotr and red rooster (punk rock blues fest in Norfolk - not very dis, but it is very good). I’ve a supernormal sized hole in my festival schedule (given they are taking a year off) so looking for one more uk based one to do without much success. Anyone?

Dunk in Belgium is always great. I say that not just because we’re playing it this year (HINT!) but it’s in beautiful countryside with lots of great people.
