Gorillaz

Thought the Popcaan one was good and We Got the Power is the weakest on first listen. Other two tracks definitely the best though

Actually Andromeda > Saturnz Barz > Ascension >>> We’ve Got the Power

looks like liam is on the cover of the album

Don’t like the new tracks much apart from the one with Jehnny Beth. Like that a lot.

Will see what happens, but got the feeling this is going to be pretty messy from the tracks so far. They’re all over the place. I like a few of them but there’s nothing really special or that competes with the best tracks on the other albums either.

Also Albarn’s bits seem like a bit of an afterthought on most these tracks, rather than an integral part of the sound

I thought this. It’s like he thought “this doesn’t really sound like Gorillaz. Better put that standard melancholy voice in it”.

Yeah it’s weird. Obviously the Gorillaz sound has changed a fair bitl and always worked with diverse collaborators but somehow… A lot of this doesn’t really sound like Gorillaz.

Calling it, this album is gonna blow

Agreed.

His peak was more than 10 years ago so i shan’t be surprised. last Blur album sucks, his solo stuff too.

Didn’t like the last album so not looking forward to this one as much as I probably should. The singles they’ve released since their inception have been great. One day they will release a brilliant greatest hits album.

This doesn’t feel much like a Gorillaz album to me, the sound is actually pretty uniform throughout the record and there’s very little Albarn

Never release anything as good as Demon Days and in general I do think there music has dated despite always sounding pretty contemporary at the time.

Strobelite’s a tuuune.

Submission is really good

haha Pitchfork are hilarious - the Grace Jones song is great
