More mind limits!

  • Lose 2 stone
  • move to Amsterdam (may be incompatible with the first one!)
  • record an EP with my band before I move
  • write a cover feature

Possibly because I’ve had way too much contact with family members lately, who are some of the most discouraging people on earth.

Maybe add:
Return to previous solid tactic of avoiding relatives

Buy house, move into house
Get promoted at work
Improve climbing by a grade
See friends more often - especially those who aren’t local
Visit Helsinki

I never learnt when I was 17, basically because my parents said I was too stupid and would never be able to. I then lived in places with great public transport. When I left London in May, I applied for the licence on a whim, and took about 4-5 hours of lessons. I was generally fine, didn’t even stall the car or so much as touch another car or the kerb, but I was just convinced I was going to run someone over. Really didn’t help that the instructor thought it was a great idea to have me drive round a junior school at 3pm on the first lesson.

Of course my family were all “why can’t you drive already, you loser?” after that. Then I ran out of money for driving lessons.

Gunna moker change,
for once in my life,
It’s gunna feel good, gunna moker difference,
gunna make it ri-i-i-i-ight

I went to Helsinki this year. Was beautiful, clean and everyone is attractive and well educated.

Probably not true but that really was the impression. Also went to a banging techno night.

Also Long Drink is ace.

Sorry if you’ve been before or you’re a regular visitor and I’m talking like I’m Saara friggin’ Aalto.

You idiots! The lizards have all the privileges!

At leas the shape shifting ones do. The smaller ones that climb your apparent wall in Spain don’t really have any rights.

Won’t someone think of the gekkos??

Sorry this is a bit grim but…

Been thinking a bit about starting early preparations for what to do in the event of a major World/European conflict. Nothing concrete, just maybe start saving money and do a bit of research into immigration rules for places that are relatively out of the way/safe/whatever, and start speaking to my family about it to see if we should all be planning together. I think that’s my main goal for 2017.

The sad truth is friends and family are the worst detractors.

They’ve got the most to lose if you change or progress so they like to keep you in your place.

It’s not even a deliverate thing most of the time. Just a weird passive resistance. I’ve had it lots. Once you start to realise that even your best mates or parents will try to curtail your excitement about ideas or plans, the easier it is to dismiss them.

I do it too. If a friend goes travelling or makes a bold life change I get jealous and it makes me uncomfortable. But it’s also a problem with me, not them. In fact, their ambition pushes me along.

Anyway basically don’t listen to other people. Other people know shit all about what you want or what you’re able to excel at.

at the other extreme, could start learning survival and combat skills, or at least learn how to grow and make stuff - y’know rediscover all the skills that are automated or removed from our everyday lives so I’m prepared for the breakdown of society.
