Fairly sure I read somewhere a year or two ago that GRM had given the writers the broad strokes of how to get there but not necessarily the detail.

I know that Daenerys liked Missandei, but they weren’t friends to a “driven mad by vengeance” extent. Daenerys largely treated her as an employee for the duration of their relationship, I think maybe once asking her for her opinion as if it actually meant anything.

I’d say she felt more insulted by Missandei’s execution than a feeling of grief or injustice.

As she wants from everyone else, Daenerys wanted her devotion, and if she can’t get that from them they’re an obstacle.

I can’t stop thinking about Euron popping out from behind the rocks.

It would be so easy to explain that coincidence, like if he said earlier “i’ve smuggled before, i know what to do if we get fucked up” but no. He’s just there at the exact same time Jaime is. An amazingly crap moment that reeks of first-draft writing.

or, hear me out, maybe they were both heading to the same back door of the red keep because the city was being sieged? Both are trusted enough to be told about that entrance.

I mean, I know that’s a stretch, but I’m sure you can suspend enough disbelief to accept that two people might be heading to the same place at the same time and their paths cross.

I mean, Euron might also have been there a while wondering what the fuck to do as his fleet burned, but then saw Jamie arriving. Then it’s even less of a coincidence.

This isn’t aimed at you, Otto, but I’m beginning to think a lot of people are crying ‘lazy writing’ when they mean ‘lazy watching’.

Would have loved it if Euron was hurriedly doing his flies up when Jaime spots him

Think Euron just washed up there when his boat got toasted. By coincidence.

Fair, you are making me doubt myself. It just feels so forced, and to make it believable the audience needs to fill in gaps. For me personally that’s frustrating.

Staying on the Euron train I would like to present this tweet (apologies if already posted):

Was it Sun Tzu who said “On the eve of war, never tell your generals about lesser-known access points that could help them get to your defence”?

Nah, think that was Captain Mainwaring

Hasn’t she always said that’ll be her tactic when taking KL though? A couple of eps back she said the sky would fall in on them. I wasn’t really surprised she destroyed the place.

It’s not like characters have bumped into each other before despite the size of Westeros. Brienne bumped into both Arya and Sansa pretty much by chance in a much larger area than KL.

Yeah but she is huge tbf, makes for better odds

Plus there’s The Coincidence Inn (I’ve not googled, but I’m going to assume that’s its name) on The Kings Road where all of the main characters seem to have bumped into each other throughout every season…

i wouldn’t have been surprised if she went in guns blazing to take the city and killed a bunch of people in the process. but the way it went down, where it was all over and they had surrendered and they showed her very deliberately thinking ‘nah fuck it, gonna burn some plebs now’ was pretty surprising

Nah

just started watching this from the beginning after reading all the plot details.

Going to try to watch the whole thing within a one week now tv trial

so far I’ve watched 6 episodes.

Not sure I’m convinced by Peter Dinklage’s hoity toity accent.

In fact there’s a lot of “acting” voices on this show so far for want of a better word
