lol he trained for 8 years to be a distraction so arya could do the job
i think he’s dead, or even more knackered than the big lad? he crash landed so i think that means he’s fucked, idk tho
the opening cavalry charge made no sense at all
afaik, he warged into the birds to find the ice lad, but what diff does it make he already knows he’s on his way.
shocks wearing off and now I’m wondering what purpose it all served beyond reducing team dany/jon enough to make it a fair fight against cersei. am i being too critical?
the “surge” bit where they just blew in out of the dark was amazingly intense, no music, barely any sound, just the odd rasp and gargle. felt claustrophobic af
im at work in 5 hours lol
bran needs to produce a list of strengths and weaknesses, with his skills and experience, because I’m thinking he might be overselling himself to winterfell inc. at this point
jorah stepped up big time, same for theon. proud of my sweet warrior boys
does this mean arya is actually the princess who was promised? westeros jesus? cos that’s pretty cool if so. someone on here called that as an ending too…
i thought that. ngl i was genuinely getting emotional.
can’t remember the details now, something about a flaming sword
i am really glad they didn’t have the night king talk
don’t wanna sound bloodthirsty but i feel like the main characters got off relatively light. i like sam but he should be gone, same for tormund, grey worm and at least gendry.
right i need sleep, we’ll continue this tomorrow tho @incandenza, thanks for being here to share reactions tho
Couldn’t see shit.
thought it was kinda meh. It looked like dogshit on my TV (full HD), it really couldn’t cope with the darkness of most scenes. Shame we didn’t get one unpredictable death. It was so dark that I’m convinced I must have missed at least one big character death. Did my man Tormund survive? Didn’t expect Arya to kill NK, not sure I care either, it all felt a bit Avengersy to me. But I was never into the white walkers anyway so I’m glad we can go back to the figtt over the seven kingdoms for the last three episodes, that is what it has always been about for me.
did one of the dragon pals snuff it? Honestly couldn’t tell
Just the frozen one. The other two are alright.
It was certainly a spectacle, but I’d echo that it seemed Avengersy. Felt no real jeopardy at all for any of the characters safety
I think it was her acknowledging that she might have to kill Ned?
Whilst I don’t think the episode did very much (…anything?) shocking in terms of story, the atmosphere throughout was brilliant. The heartbeat drum during the darkness before the Dothraki run to their death was brilliant. Arya was a total badass throughout, love her. Shame her weapon only lasted about 45 seconds! Don’t really know get Bran was doing tbh. Thought Tarly was dead on many occasions but even the white walkers cba with him. As soon as the big lad got into winterfell and the piano started you kind of knew it was about to end. Ah well, television.
Just watched it that bit in the library was proper Jurassic Park
Really hard to tell what was going on.
Either dark or foggy, or ridiculously fast close camera stuff. Gave me a headache tbh.
Theon and Jorah both finally done. Theon’s charge made me lol
Arya was amazing throughout. Good to see red woman back. Would’ve liked a bigger character to have gone just for impact (felt like a c-list cull).
Lyanna(?) Mormont vs Zombie Giant was ace. I’m sure Sam died about 8 times.
Anyone else getting bored of dragons?
ARYA FUCKING STARK THOUGH
The music was shocking towards the end. Thought Viserion at the end looked really good and scary (scary is probably the wrong word). Agree about it being a bit disappointing that all the main characters are left probably will all stab each other next week now.
Series could end with a bit of anti climax because really you can’t do anything else after that, the stakes for the iron throne now feel really small particularly now you have told everyone that this was the big battle.
I was ready to fire up the hot take machine and moan that it was pure spectacle with no character pay-off, i.e. Thrones at its worst.
But then just when I thought I couldn’t be any happier after Theon’s pathetic charge, my all time absolute fave comes flying in from offscreen to save the day. YAAAAAAAAAAS!
Still. Less CGI, more scheming and bureaucratic minutiae for the rest of the series pls.
Can’t believe that episode got broadcast in that fucking state. Someone should tell the lads to watch their show on a normal telly once they’ve done the edit. Think there’s a great episode in there somewhere but honestly the first half was unbearable.
