I’ve lived through many wars and every time, we get rolling news telling us about death counts and there are pictures of correspondents back dropped by bombs and flashes and suchlike and then the killing stops and then everyone loses interest when it’s time for diplomacy and the politicians do a load of dull things and all that jazz. So I put it to you that until the news can make wars ending exciting again, writers will never know how to finish off these types of made for TV dramas and that’s why I enjoyed that episode just a little bit. Mostly though, it was rushed and darts at an idea board type stuff.

Badcustard called it.

Liked it overall especially Jon’s ending, felt bad for Drogon. Was hoping for one last bit of dead-Ladding or tiiiiime travel (of the non linear variety).

Here’s to next seasons pursuit of a functioning water treatment plant for Kings Landing.

Night everyone

Dinklage absolutely nailed every scene. Even had me sold on King Bran until I stopped and thought about it.

Edmure Tully bit was the best.

Couldn’t figure out the subtitle settings so Dany’s speech came out in German. Worked quite well actually.

Not a bad season overall, wish everyone would stop whinging about it (not you, DiS)

Given where we were after series 7 and the rest of 8 I reckon that was a broadly satisfactory ending, probably because it’s the closest they’ve been to the book story for ages. If the books ever get finished I expect they’ll do a much better job of getting to the same point. At least Ghost finally got petted.

Was hoping Hot Pie would burst into the small council with a tray of delicious steaming pies, and be pronounced Master Of Tuck by all!

Otherwise it was fine.

I know people say this a lot, but I really could have written a better final episode than that. Not just the plot, but the dialogue and everything. Never even written anything in my life except creative writing for GCSE English Lit (A* for that particular piece of coursework, thank you)

Loved how they felt the need to have Tyrion explain the plotting of the last episode in excrutiating detail to Jon. Meanwhile ‘good man’ Jon Snow is all like “durrrr I dunno I guess the killing was bad, but I can see that, like, from her perspective, it was okay? I’m so confuuuuuused”

Also a million other things but I’ve already forgotten everything that happened because above all it was just so boring. Oh wait, no, them using Sam as a really heavy-handed way to demonstrate that Westeros wasn’t ‘ready’ for democracy, cos they were worried that if they didn’t put something like that in there they would get cancelled on Twitter for being monarchists. That was fun too.

Ashamed to say I laughed at nearly all of these

Clever of them to throw in a LOTR reference after all these years

i agree with everything you said but i have to take exception to greyworm just being allowed to get on with his life when he was just as culpable in the kings landing atrocity. couldn’t believe his literal nazi excuse that he was just following orders, the guys a fucking monster

Just remembered that time Bran got thrown out of the QUB SU because the bouncers realised he was 16

“So, fucking crazy this, but this is what actually happened. Me and Danny were just chatting and that and stuff and then Drogon just, like, fucking piles on over and is super pissed or something, going mad, and then just grabs Danny and, like, just fucking kills her! and then just bloody flew off with her body. Like, wtf mate. Crazy. Crazy stuff. Anyway, I guess technically I am, and actually was always, the rightful King now…so…”

Always have an excuse ready guys

Watched this in Switzerland and the subtitles for the bits in other languages were in French :sob: I do read French but it’s hard to follow fantasy old school literary language, can’t believe my lecturers were right when they said we needed to learn the past historic tense

you know what would have made it a bit better - if they’d shown danerys finding out about tyrion freeing his brother before the battle, and that sort of sending her over the edge. and then a bit more dialogue about not being able to trust anyone etc this episode.

also would have liked to have seen tyrion melted by the dragon. no need for him to survive.
