Now, Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division many will agree is an outstanding album and iconic album art / cover.
I was thinking today what is a good example of a great album sleeve but a poor / terrible album?

I mean I guess at least looking at the ridiculous artwork will bring some joy, whereas listening to the horrible music would not.

Also I was thinking of Angles and Come Down Machine by the Strokes.
It’s a good question because I’m sure lots of people’s memory of an album is linked to a visual recollection of its cover (mine is anyway) so even if the artwork is objectively good, you remember it being crap if the music within is poor.
Agreed. The visual cover used to be a key thing to attract sales pre Internet so you would think there would be a lot of great covers but questionable content.
I was very excited when I saw the cover of this Gost LP. All the gold print was nice and shiny and everything.
It wasn’t really that good.
