They’re so terrible that they’re actually amazing.

Literally looks nothing like him:

That’s by Vaughan Oliver! He designed all the classic 80s 4AD covers that are some of my favourites ever. I’ve often bought records just for his artwork. Not his greatest work admittedly, but it’s definitely not terrible. I think it’s quite beautiful actually.

I think most of these album covers are good!

Far too busy for me. Both fonts are minging and the album title is dreadful too

Pink Moon cover is very nice

Just think it’s a bit dirgey for an album cover.

this cover has definitely made me think harder about recommending one of my favourite albums to others

But still really ugly

It’s very much in the tradition of his great Pixies designs.

The top half of the Hejira sleeve is fine - nice font, classy black and white photo - it’s just the bottom bit with the photo of the road overlaid that is awful. I can understand wanting to get a reference to the open road in there somewhere (the whole album is about travel) but that is really ham-fisted.

The cover of Court and Spark is just so…brown. Doesn’t suit the vibrancy of the music at all. For The Roses has an awful sleeve too:

Whereas Blue, Hissing of Summer Lawns and a lot of the others are great.

Then there’s Don Juan’s reckless daughter…
Wouldn’t say that was a great album though

With the highly questionable blacking up…

Mingus has a beautiful sleeve though.

these have always bothered me

Driller Killer’s album that is NSFW so I won’t post it
