quite like Control
My favourites probably the Robbie one with a CGI monkey being used as Robbie (yet to be released)
aka Ken in Space
I don’t think there has ever been a good biopic of a musician because musicians aren’t interesting. “I decided to become a musician and then I was one” is an abysmal arc.
I really liked La Vie En Rose but may just be ‘a great performance’ rather than ‘a great film’
lowkey the worst genre imo. there’s a few good ones but mostly just boring awards bait
I think the Social Network doesn’t really centre on Zuckerberg as much as the drama between him and the other protagonists so doesn’t count as a biopic
Similarly I don’t think The Imitation Game is a biopic either but is probably a much stronger case due to the childhood flashbacks & Turing’s eventual decline & death
My favourite biopic is Paddington 2, the second biopic about Paddington the Bear
Hated that Steve Jobs film u all like, his company undoubtedly reshaped society around the world in a huge way, but the film itself just seems to focus on a guy who is a quite bog standard arsehole. Fassbender must have worked sooooooo hard to get into character as an overbearing prick obsessed with his own greatness
.
I only started to enjoy this film after I learned Tonya herself really likes it, I wonder what that says about me.
I’ve not watched it because it’s obviously shit (director (post 2007), lead, subject matter). I will not watch that garbage
Becomes an A lister for five minutes once every decade!
And heaven knows I’m musical now
Good decision making. I think we only saw it because we p much completed Netflix during lockdown.
Just remembered a few months ago when the out of touch Hollywood execs tried to sell the public the idea of watching ‘the inspirational true story of Nike selling some shoes’ as an enjoyable cinema experience. Fucking wild
Is The Wind Rises a biopic?
Luckily for you folks you can watch the greatest rock biopic ever made for free…Hysteria: The def Leppard story. (With the best recreation of Sheffield on a Hollywood backlot ever filmed.)
Amadeus, a genuinely good biopic in my opinion (really struggling to think of good ones)
really liked Man on the Moon when I saw it actually
still not watched Jim & Andy though that’d probably ruin it for me
Good shout but I think it’s based on two different people. I love it as a curveball choice though
