I agree, can’t imagine anything much of it is still funny now.

Also recall it got less and less funny as it went on. I think by 1992 it was pretty much spent (apparently it went on until 1996 but I don’t really remember anyone giving a damn).

The 80s were its heyday but probably as much because they turned Reagan into a such a specific comic character that they even did a whole special show just of him that had no real bearing on the actual news of the time.

This happens all the time at work and it pisses me off.

A number of drivers will bypass my female colleague and come to my desk to tell me they’ve got a defect (or ask to speak to me if she answers the phone) even when she is on the ‘dealing with problems’ desk.

Silly wimmin don’t know anything about trucks, obviously.

A man tried to congratulate my male friend who is the booking agent at the venue for a gig I put on. My friend explained it was his night off and he was just there as a punter, and tried to introduce me. The older man just refused to believe that I was somehow responsible and told my male friend to “not be so modest”.

Also the exact words an old boss would use when he would congratulate my male coworker for things I had done, and the co-worker would try to explain I had done it, not him. Wonder why I quit that job.
