Don’t get this at all sorry

Have you seen / read Watchmen?

Well over a decade ago maybe closer to two.

It’s a very old joke / story, but Rorshach tells a version of it in Watchmen:

“Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he’s depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, “Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up.” Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor…I am Pagliacci.”

I’m confused… are these meant to be read sequentially? It’s almost as bad as the Youtube video I saw at uni of the Chuckle Brothers in an airport control tower spliced with 9/11 footage.

I think the point is it’s just coincidental that he’s talking about being a pilot on Sept 10 and then a tribute one on Sept 11?

Not sure it’s coincidental TBH. Could well be a deliberate choice.

2002? It’s a year after.

Oh I thought it was 2001. That’s odd then.

So what I can gather is that for whatever reason the cartoonist decided to make a cartoon about learning to fly a plane on 10 September 2002. The very next day was the one year anniversary of 9/11 so he did a tribute to that.

Not sure why his editor didn’t question the timing of the first cartoon and save it for October or something.

Weird really. Maybe it was planned but seems odd if so.

This person wasn’t happy!

At a previous job, a few years ago, a group of workmates went on Eggheads together. A big group of us organised for a pub to show the episode and we all went to watch it together live. Imagine if THIS was the tv game show you had to watch to cheer your colleagues on’:scream:
