Quite. I think the point I’m trying to make is quite how far the sport itself has come in the last year or so since Ecclestone was kicked out, even if many of the people around it still have similar attitudes.

I forget the exact details of the conversation, but I remember seeing Lewis Hamilton on some talk show fairly recently (as in, the last couple of years) and he was asked about female f1 drivers, and his reply was something like “yeah, I’m in favour of that, get some women in to make it a bit sexier.”

I suppose most professional sports are filled with cunts, but there’s definitely something about F1.

Firstly, let me just say that F1 is a terrible sport for twats and should be banned.

But despite that if these women are choosing to do this job then is it fair to make them lose it? I imagine it’s less problematic than stripping say.

In fairness, Hamilton didn’t, but yeah it’s a very expensive sport to get into.

So much for the tolerant left!!!11!!!

Ha ha, you people are genuinely weird.
The only thing preventing me from finding all this hilarious is the disturbing narrow-mindedness and misguided self-satisfaction on display from a few users. If this is what a “respectful” message board is then maybe there is no hope.
No doubt you will treat this with pithy irony and make it into a DiS quote or something like you tend to do with valid criticism that you prefer not to address.
I think I’ll just leave you all to it.

Bye CG.

It reinforces the idea that these sports are for men and it’s all a fucking boys club, etc - it’s basically designed to let women know that.

Like, imagine MOTD hired some model to stand and grin next to Gary Lineker while he presented the show, just to make it more “glamorous” and for men to enjoy it more*. She might enjoy the job, it might pay well, but that wouldn’t really be the issue which should take priority.

*Obviously game shows and stuff have done this forever, but I don’t watch those.

If you’re wanting an actual response, senordingers and s_a_d have both covered it. Assume you’re just trolling cause it’s pretty well trodden ground

I’m reminded that many years ago my cousin worked in reporting on Formula 1 and she was appalled at how sexist the whole thing (and most people involved) was and got out pretty sharpish. So yeah, terrible sport.

This is it isn’t it. For however many people are employed as grid girls etc., there are far more female journalists, mechanics, drivers, scientists etc. Who are being kept out of the sport because of the sexist environment it is symptomatic of/exacerbates

this could be a good opportunity to introduce more mascots in ridiculous plush costumes into the world

Or driving the cars themselves, like a full-size MarioKart.

The Sun have now got a regular column which is normalising ‘snowflake’ rhetoric. Really makes my blood boil. The angle is also really confused and inconsistent.

Think it has a similar root to government banning safe spaces. A desparate and needy attempt to remain relevant and reach a new audience of shitheads.

Good lord. Has anyone on there followed the line of logic of “well James Wade’s wife used to be a ring girl so are they trying to stop darts players finding wives now are they??” I’m sure SOMEone has at least.
