Tried to search the boards to see if they’d been mentioned elsewhere but it isn’t the easiest band name to search so I didn’t find anything

Group A.D. …or to give them their full title Group for Action & Dance
I heard their new single ’This is the Sound’ on Huey’s 6music show yesterday and it really caught my ear
It’s one of those muscular indie dance type tracks with a narrator - really reminiscent of early 80s Trevor Horne stuff like the Slave to Rhythm EP he did with Grace Jones & the 12” version of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s Two Tribes & that. Musically it’s not slick & 80s like that though but the production and arrangement is just as precise & sonically rich - like Andy Weatherall producing something on Factory records and going tight, not baggy. The second half of it has the best drum sound I’ve heard on a record in years. So good,
So I googled & I can’t find out anything about them really. There’s only the ’This is the Sound’ track on streaming but I found a debut on their bandcamp page from March
Not only is it quite something to release your ’Theme’ as a debut single but it’s also a charity release…. plus it has just one line of lyric
It also sounds great and, finding their bandcamp I see that they very much have a thought-through visual style in their artwork with a direct call to political pamphleteering and the Red Wedge aesthetic. Very much ’We don’t need this Fascist Groove Thing’ - but not just an aesthetic, using the band as a focal point for real grass roots political action.
Anyway, beyond that I know nothing other than gleaming from their Bandcamp page that they’re a 5 or possibly 6 piece from Leeds(?)
The sound, the influences, the visual imagery, the politics, the intention … I love it all and I’m very intrigued and excited & want to know more.
