For our first event of 2017, we are delighted to be bringing one of the finest acts currently working to The Cluny for their first ever performance in Newcastle - the mighty GRUMBLING FUR!
The collaboration of acclaimed graphic novelist and artist Alexander Tucker and Daniel O’Sullivan (who has performed with Ulver, Stephen O’Malley and This Is Not This Heat amongst others), Grumbling Fur produce beautiful and startling music that blends folk melody, electronic sound, psychedelic revery and experimental textures into remarkable pop epiphanies unlike anything else around.
Their 2016 debut for Thrill Jockey, Furfour, received rave reviews in publications like Pitchfork and The Quietus and ranked in the Best of 2016 lists of Louder Than War, Getintothis and Speakers Push Air amongst others. Expect a stunning and innovative performance from this inventive duo.
Support comes from Nathalie Stern, whose distinct combination of looped folk vocals, John Carpenter informed synths and sparse songwriting makes her one of the most arresting performers in the region.
