Her defence seems to be that unless it was proved in court it doesn’t count.

Unless it’s Michael Jackson in which case the court doesn’t matter.

The Berry article opens with a chunk about Woody Allen that this new piece doesn’t sit well with either IMO.

Hold on, is she saying a blind eye is not being turned to Polanski’s conviction (beneath the Chuck Berry one)? How many films has he made since 1978? How many Oscars / badges etc won?

I don’t know. I’m not going to get too far into it but I would say it’s fair to say that the average person is aware of what Polanski did and sees him as a rapist. Her whole thing seems to be about how she can separate artist and the art so her Berry piece seems to be, “He was a sexual predator but we can still enjoy his art, we should just know that,” I think.
