Mad how sometimes a random album track is a band’s top track by a mile. Always presume it must be on a popular playlist and then once it reaches the top it’s self perpetuating as people check out the top tracks.

eg. The Fall’s top track is Mountain Energei from 2003 which is surprising (can’t remember any of my other examples now)

Only knew this because I remember seeing it before and being quite surprised.

Most people went for one of the top 2. It’s Losing My Religion by absolutely fucking miles.

Think often these things must be skewed by compilations or prominent playlists or something.

For example, Yo La Tengo’s most popular (almost twice as many as second-place Autumn Sweater) is fairly standard album track I’ll Be Around cos of the Boyhood soundtrack (I assume anyway)

Would be a better format if we put the answer written in a spoiler below the poll. Like fuck I’m looking them up myself

The Cure

  • Close to Me
  • Friday I’m in Love
  • Boys Don’t Cry
  • Lovesong
  • Just Like Heaven

Look at the first reply and see why that’s a bad idea

Just write “the answer is…” or something

The answer is Always On My Mind but I’m making the blurred bit really long so you can’t guess the answer by looking at its length

Stardust

  • Music Sounds Better With You
  • Music Sounds Better With You - Radio Edit

The answer, my fellow DiSers, is without a doubt the radio edit, since it is shorter and who has time for the artist’s original vision?

How is Silence Kit not even in that list?

Summer Babe was an absence that shocked me

Great thread. The KLF still have 3 am Eternal on Spotify (the only original “famous” song by them), somehow, though they probably don’t know as I think it’s track 16 on some German porn compilation.
