was about to post “all of siamese dream” but obviously ^
35 seconds into Thin White Rope’s ‘it’s ok’ a guitar tone that momentarily sounds like the yawn of an ancient sea-beast occurs.
It is one of my favourite guitar sounds from a band who’s guitar sounds were absolutely impeccable.
this is even better, raspy and nasty
lovely disgusting bass tone on this album that’s equally important, obvs
Anything from Inlet by Hum, that record has guitar tones that are like weighted comfort blankets for my ears.
For the best guitar tone on a single song, can’t forget Shakey (and to give praise to whoever engineered this masterpiece).
This one is just as good if not better than Wish actually

As far as getting the tone goes, I’m sure Charlie Clouser once said that Turbosynth was a massive part of the whole Broken sound:
