Half Man Half Biscuit

New album The Voltarol Years coming on 18 Feb.

Tracklisting confirms it’s definitely a HMHB album:

I’m Getting Buried In The Morning
Rogation Sunday’s Here Again!
Awkward Sean
Tess Of The Dormobiles
Grafting Haddock In The George
Big Man Up Front
When I Look At My Baby
Beneath This Broken Headstone
In A Suffolk Ditch
Persian Rug Sale At The URC
Midnight Mass Murder
Token Covid Song
Slipping The Escort
Oblong Of Dreams

Their last album was fantastic, mildly concerned this one will be a massive letdown. Anyone else excited?

I am excited!

Reckon only Nigel can get away with a song about covid. The rest of those song titles are already winners aren’t they. :joy:

A new HMHB album is always a good thing!

I was meant to see them in Leeds in November 2020, it’s been rescheduled to June this year, hopefully that will still go agead.

Great news. Dukla Prague away kit always gets a few plays in my house in December, so ready for this!

Nice , the last one was great, have been meaning to dive into the back catalogue. Using the same method as I do for the Fall , I have to find the physical albums out in the wild. Which living in U.S isnt too often for HMHB. Did pick up a CSI Ambleside a few weeks back , haven’t got around to listening to it yet though.

I decided quite early on in the pandemic that the only Covid song I have any interest in hearing is the HMHB Covid song

CSI Ambleside is fantastic, National Shite Day may well be their best song.

“There’s a man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in Millet’s” might be my favourite lyric ever!

I know it’s one of the oldest but I really enjoy McIntyre, treadmore and davitt. All the (now very obscure 70s and 80s ) references just seem to add another layer to it.

Last HMHB album is among their best ever imo. Very excited for this.

Absolutely buzzing for this and really hope the Ritz gig on the 28th goes ahead. Been waiting nigh on eighteen months for it.

Agree. They’re still kind of at the tail end of their golden era in my opinion - with Achtung Bono, CSI and 90 Bisodol being the absolute peak.

I always think of those 3 albums as their peak and then I’m pleasantly surprised when I put on Godcore or McIntyre… and remember it’s all one big peak.

Trouble Over Bridgewater is my current favourite album I reckon.

CD and LP on order :grinning:
Defo my favourite band. Every album since Achtung Bono has been a classic with AB as my favourite. Every time a Bell Rings from the last album is up there with Chatteris as the best song!!

+1 for Chatteris as best tune. Trad Arr. Tune does give it a run for it’s money though.

I understand why Every Time A Bell Rings gets the plaudits (it’s fantastic) but I reckon Terminus and Harsh Times at Umberstone Covert are the standouts on the last album. Would love more in that vein on the new one.
