Hamish Hawk

(not H. Hawkline, he’s different and has his own thread)

Only made this thread to stop Scottish music clogging up the Irish music thread. Paging @thesewoodenideas

Playing the Barras in February and it will be one of the greatest live shows I’ll ever see.

There’s been a few comparisons to Morrissey, but I don’t think they could be any more different. Hamish is a really nice guy as well.

Missed this. Still need to listen to him actually

Here’s some to start you off, all a little bit different to each other

He also does a cracking cover of Disco 2000. They played it at the Trnsmt aftershow at King Tuts on Friday and it went down a storm.

The Mozza comparisons are fair (in a musical sense), and he certainly leans into them here:

Yeah he’s really good. Seen him twice since I made that thread.

First three tracks on his last album are cracking indie pop.

Fantastic artist. Saw him in Manchester earlier this year and got tickets again via National Lottery promotion for Leicester in August.

Yeah, he’s a really fun performer and a genuinely lovely bloke. Glad to see he’s doing well!

Played Heavy Elevator to death 21/22. Hasn’t quite happened with Angel Numbers although there’s five or six tracks that are up there with the best of HE.
I love this line from Dog-eared August:

“You share the scariest star sign with my only sister, I’ve been watching you try and write Narcissus on my mirror”

Genius !

Saw a bit of his set in George Square (as part of the stuff that’s on for the cycling world championships, was good and intense). Records sound a little tame in comparison

I was there too, really thought he was excellent. I’ve heard good things but kind of blew me away…

I was there as well. I can see where you’re coming from, the live shows are pretty energetic.

Off to the Musician in Leicester on Sunday to see him. Second time this year, good value with the national lottery 2for1 as well.

Is this his acoustic side project?

Will put a proper post in the gig thread later but last night at the barras was phenomenal

Headlining Stag and Dagger in May, my chance to finally catch him

I’ll be there

Loved Caterpillar (like track-of-the-year loved) but somehow lost track. Everything else he did seemed a bit more standard indie and that driving motorik beat was what hooked me. I take it I should correct this error?
