That was fucking brilliant and moving. Just wanted to hug her at the end.

Not very good

Did you watch the whole thing? I only ask because the opening 20-30 mins is normal standup that I think is deliberately not wildly hilarious or anything.

I’ve only watched the first 15 mins and wasn’t really taken by it. Is it worth sticking with?

Yeah. It’s deliberately setup to be what seems to be a normal sort of standup routine and gradually becomes something a lot more personal and different.

I mean that’s not to say you will definitely enjoy the main thing but it’s a completely different sort of piece.

Yeah had I not known it was going to change I would have most likely switched it off after 15 minutes too.

Cheers guys I’ll start it back up again

After 20 minutes of watching it with Mrs HYG she was like “I just don’t find this funny, can we watch something else”, so we did, then when she went to bed later I thought, well, I’ve heard it’s really good, so I’ll give it a bit longer and watched the whole thing. Told Mrs HYG the next day about how powerful it was and she said: “Well would I enjoy it if I watched it?” and I had to admit, no, enjoyable isn’t really the right word for it.

No, that’s partly why I’m a bit ‘hmm’ about “You should keep watching it” because it’s not like it gets funnier…

Yeah I watched it all.

A bit of a long link there. I hope it works. If not, she’s playing some dates at The South Bank if anyone is interested.

I guess the link worked.

Her show sold out here straight away and I’ve got ticketswap notifications but there are 1000s of people looking for tickets so they get snapped up straight away when they come up, been trying for months

Had a ticket for the other Sunday but engineering works thwarted me

Saw Nanette at the Fringe when it was on. It was amazing but obviously a hard watch. Comedy of this nature often does “tension and release”. She deliberately forgot the “release” bit.

Am hoping she tours Douglas as I can’t make it to the Southbank on this occasion.
