There was a post on a local facebook group last night from a desperate mum asking if anyone had a batman book her son could borrow for school today.

Books based on films shouldn’t count, dammit!
The novelisation of Star Wars came out before the film.
(I assume this is a lie but I’d swear it blind to you if my child was dressed as a Jedi.)

I don’t remember this being a thing when I was in school but apparently it was. Had an aversion to fancy dress even as a child so maybe I have just blocked it out.
This really wasn’t a thing when I was at school, but then I am quite old. None of your fancy Harry Potter costumes would be appropriate. We would all have to dress as those things you see in the margins of illuminated manuscripts.
