I think his drunken NME awards thing soured a lot of people on him. Did for me. Was a big fan of his first album, but have had no real desire to go back to it since.

Christ, what a shit article. Accused and charged with are totally different it can’t be both.
I believe in the UK legal system to be charged with a crime does mean just to be formally accused of it, the court case would then determine if found guilty or not.
Regardless, it’s a grim situation and sympathy firmly with the victim. Can’t see myself going back to Slowthai’s music unless this was found to be totally baseless - but his persona and attitude problems make it quite easy to believe.

Given the low conviction rates the evidence must have been significant. Then there are the backlogs in the courts, meaning it’s likely this court date has been known by some of his team for upto a year

I’d drifted away, too but tbh was on board with the mental health positivity of his last, since I took it to be him trying to address/comment on his behaviour.
Bleakly, someone on Reddit said he was arrested for this in 2021…
Not sure it’s true, but I think that’s roughly when his partner left him - herself alleging abuse, but I found it difficult to track down her actual statements as she’s Russian and I think has since moved back.
For anyone who missed or forgot about this
From the moment I saw him interviewed I honestly never got any good vibes. He always struck me as someone who had an overinflated ego, and an aggressive side to his personality. He always seemed to me as a bit fake and trying to create a persona.
After this gut feeling and the Kathryn Ryan stuff and now this I honestly don’t see a future for him in the public spotlight.
I also don’t like or enjoy his music but my son really does so I’d imagine he is pretty gutted. I haven’t spoken to him about it yet because I’m pretty sure he would be upset that someone he loved musically has been accused of this.
The guy is a total wrongun.
