I don’t have any children but appreciate you marcksplaining all the same.

I appreciate the Jeremys_Irony of that comment.

(Am I doing it right?)

I guess so, I don’t rule with a Jeremys_IronFist.

I was speaking on a very personal level so your reply probably says more about you than it does about me? Enjoy your new home pal

Freaks my nut to see people over 21 on less than 20 grand - what if the people I work for are like: “oh well this cunt can manage on 17k so that’s what we’ll pay you”

Oh fuck really? Sorry man, I thought it was absolutely nailed on. Dodged a bullet from the sounds of things though.

Fuck those guys. Staying with your parents for years is such a godsend, as said upthread. Also they all look like they smell of milk. Hate them all.

Alright Big Time!

We pay into a joint account which pays for the mortgage and our expenses. The mortgage is in my name but we both pay it.

Is it really a thing that Londoners stay with their parents rent-free whilst they save for a deposit?

I find that pretty insane, to be honest. I don’t remember having that option - it was either college/uni full time or £50 a week.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with staying at home and saving…but surely not without contributing?

yeah I do think I should ask her to maybe pitch in something due to my leccy/gas bills etc going up

probably depends how well off your parents are. if they don’t need help with bills they might rather not charge rent so you can save up quicker and leave

SOMETHING SOMETHING SEXIST REFERENCE TO DOMESTIC TASKS SOMETHING SOMETHING LETTING THEM DRIVE NEXT SOMETHING!

That’s fair to an extent, but i couldn’t really imagine being in my early twenties and accepting cooked meals, etc, off my parents whilst banking thosands of pounds. That’s fucking low, however well off your folks are.

Haha fuck you

Fuck sake in 25 next month and haven’t managed to get a stable job that pays me above £8 an hour yet!

Basically the trick seems to be live in a cheap place, use a mortgage scheme that no longer exists… and have the luck/insanity to be in a super stable relationship before 25 that you would commit to co-owning a house with them!

Well the median income is just over 20 grand in the uk and the average for under 25s is around 17k pre tax so get used to it.

Okay the data I was using is a few years old but still

I worked out recently that i’ve spent around £115k on going out, booze, gambling, fags, takeaways, taxis, gigs, clothes, etc. It’s a rough sum based on the number of years since my first full-time job by a rough estimate of what i average a week on stuff other than savings, essential bills and the basics.

Feel sick.
