During the clapping era, my girlfriend only made it home from work in time on one occassion, and it was just as the clapping was starting, so it looked like she was being applauded as she walked from the car and up our path.

I thought I was during the summer when I was out for an evening walk and was very disconcerted for a few seconds until I realised it was 8pm on a Thursday. It didn’t help that it was a small side road and lots of them were staring at me. I pretended to be on the phone and hurried out

Once I was on the bus and some kids were running for the bus and just missed it. Because the traffic was a bit slow moving they chased the bus all the way to the next stop and just made it. They got a round of applause as they got on.

Casually flicked a ping pong ball over my head perfectly back to the person who had overhit it using the outside edge of my work shoes with my hands in my pockets. People actually clapped.

A guy clapped me on the back when I pulled some drowning people out of a river one time, but that’s not as cool as the ping pong thing.

It was a weird situation where out of nowhere a kid sprinted into the river, quickly followed by his dad/grandad (wasn’t sure), and it quickly became apparent neither could swim. Whole thing happened so quickly it seemed unreal. Wasn’t anyone else around so I had to try and grab them and get them out. By the time it was over there were a few people there, but everyone was mainly confused as to what happened.

Did appreciate the cyclist who just carried on nonplussed while I was struggling to pull them out…

this happened to me a few times going to the shop down past some of the slightly nicer houses

I felt embarrassed as if they thought I would be deliberately lapping up the applause by walking that way at that time

Can’t remember the airport - think it was Kiev - but I was the first passenger to walk into Arrivals and some people waiting started whooping and clapping, thinking I was someone worthy of their applause. Once they realised I wasn’t that someone they abruptly stopped.

Once after a particularly dominant game in my octorun - it wasn’t my friends leading it, it was strangers in the audience - and once when I did a cocktail called a Blow Job at a bar in Kiev and it is an interactive shot (I didn’t actually suck a lad off btw) and everyone cheers when you’ve finished it

I know sporting stuff isn’t meant to count, but what if I’ve not done the London to Brighton, but just cycled the last mile down to the beach with Jimbo on the front of the bike, basking in all the glory of all the people clapping someone who they think has cycled 60 miles with a small child

I managed this - dropped some shopping at my dads just before 8 and was walking home through a few terraced streets full of people applauding, was tempted to do a few machine gun fingers and thespy thank yous in return
