Exactly! I figured the quiz-master planted it in there to catch philosophy subsid cheats so we answered “Ready salted” to each question. We got 1/10.

Actually thinking about it a Wittgenstein round is pretty appalling - you can’t have an entire round on something so niche. Quiz master’s just showing off there. Not a fan.

I don’t think this is cheating. It’s like knowing the answers to questions you wouldn’t otherwise know but you saw them on mastermind or whatever.

We do a crossword book very day and some of the crossword clues are quite repetitive. I wouldn’t know the answer other than the fact it’s been a previous clue/answer.

I think that’s pretty common with crosswords, because of the ways grids are laid out, there are a set of words that setters frequently have to rely on because they fit so usefully.

At university in my third year I had the chance to live in his old room, ended up not doing it because going to the nearest bathroom would have meant having to go outside. Still sort of regret it though.

Ah man! He thought up the entire Tractatus in that room! (Assuming it was his room when he was doing his thesis; not any room he may have been allocated upon returning to Cambridge some years later)

I’m not sure of the specifics… I’m pretty sure he had lived in there at one point, but there were so many rumours and myths knocking about it was hard to pin down. One thing I heard was that he’d painted the walls black and you could still see remnants where more recent layers had been scratched.

I had an exam a few weeks ago and the guy who was sat next to me was cheating all the way through, had his mobile under the table and was looking up stuff every 10 minutes. It both put me off & pissed me off.

I didn’t say anything during the exam though as I didn’t know how he would react and/or if it would just make a scene and ruin everyone else’s concentration

thereby aiming to cause them to stop or draw the attention of the examiner.

Another pub quiz scenario, similar ish to @GEOFFs

I’ve been doing a pub quiz for about 8 years and in that time have learned the style of the quizmaster pretty well (to the point where we now score much better because we know the music he likes and his logic). Every month there will be a round associated with current events e.g if someone like Bowie has died it might be on him, or Eurovision or Glastonbury etc. So I generally prepare for what I think is coming up, for instance if the Brit Awards have just been i’ll memorise all the nominees for all the categories. This has got us huge scores before.

I always go into a pub quiz expecting there to be topical stuff on it, and doing a quick flick through a paper / look at the Daily Mail sidebar of shame.
