I think you should be able to either click the reply link to a given post and then come into this thread and ask to put that reply in this thread (which is a nice feature of this site).

Or if you click the time of the post top right you can simply paste that link directly into your post here and it will be obvious what you’re replying too, and the original poster will get a notification.

This is about the same as saying arresting someone is useless because they might go and commit another crime when they’re at liberty, no?

It’s always been the case that people could start a new thread (and frequently did) to continue beeves in deleted ones.

I think the implication of the lock here is to try to stop xylo feeling (rightly or wrongly) like every comment is a direct judgement on his friend?

What would be a really cool feature would be if you could click reply next to a post, then have that reply appear in the same thread as the original post. Maybe lower down but with a link back to the post it’s replying to?

Why does this come across as argumentative?

Not that it is any of your business, but I currently do save a part of my pay every month, I put away every monetary gift I get from my family (for Christmas and Birthdays) and every penny of work commission or incentive I get. I have always saved. I have no debt whatsoever. I am very good with money.

I am permitted to have an opinion on something that doesn’t affect me personally.

Not trolling (well, slightly trolling admittedly). I think if there’s something really bad in a thread, or the thread’s particularly toxic, then there’s grounds to delete the thread or the bad post(s) or the bad user(s), but I really don’t see the point in locking a thread and keeping it visible
