but I reckon for people in relationships with shared finances, most arguments are about money, surely, or is that just me? Why would you not think that someone who considers this is being insightful and kind to herself and the other person, their future selves? Yeah we don’t know what will happen in the future but you take a punt one way or the other based on the information you have available to you at the time

It may well be.

Although I would imagine it increases sharply in incidence amongst people for whom money is more of an ACTUAL issue because they are poorer/live in poverty. Someone like me arguing about money would seem triflingly decadent given this.
