Doing a 9-5 job now makes me realise how little 70% of the people on here must do everyday. I think I’d be miserable if I spent half my time at work on dis (and the other half on twitter, presumably).

Like @punkosaur don’t you come from Tory Central? Where having a mortgage deposit is considered normal, as is buying a starter home at 24 or whatever? That’s not the norm in a lot of places, and you shouldn’t feel bad because you’re not fitting in with that.

Yeah, but even so, hardly anyone I know in my area strikes me as being ‘posh’ enough to be in that position (I think ‘new money’ is a much more accurate term), yet they clearly must be. I must have poor judgement of social class.

However I’m not on the path to the whole 2.4 kids, marriage, extensive mortgage thing, and never have been. I’m big on quitting things if they make me unhappy, and the older I get, the less willing I am to do anything I hate.

Personally none of those things appeal to me. I just wish people could suffer equally to get there if that’s what they want, because I’m not a very nice person and I have a chip on my shoulder.
