I used to have a Crumpler messenger bag thing before but I always walk to the supermarket and back at lunchtimes and it was easier to carry stuff in the rucksack. Otherwise I preferred the aesthetic.

I have this one.

It’s very sturdy and waterproof but the shoulder strap squeaks sometimes. You could easily fit a big ish laptop and more in here.
