! ! help: spiritualized/that one talk talk album need more like it help!

Good recommendation :+1:

Which has reminded me of another - Quique by Seefeel. Rave reviewed at the time (first ever ‘guitar’ release on Warp) it now seems to be something of a forgotten classic…

this is sick

legendary

I’ll second this too. Also Succour is very good, if more austere and wintry-sounding (which is perfect - it brings me back to my old tiny bedroom, listening while black clouds rained down in a darkening evening)

Seefeel’s Quique is a top 5 album for me (and their Polyfusia out-takes b-sides thing is great). Bowery Electric’s Beat is bloody marvellous is in a similar vein, but I’d say we’re going some way past Spiritualized and Talk Talk with both of these. One that might work is Brendan wotnot’s band Telstar Ponies - their debut is conventional compared with Voices From The New Music (a lost gem):

Shizuka from that album was named after the band i was going to share here too (i’ve shared this on DiS loads but bov)

Going to give These New Puritans a proper go as a result of this thread. Tried before but never really placed them in Spiritualized territory.

It didn’t help that they were referred to as “baroque dubstep” somewhere, that was enough for me.

they sound more like Talk Talk/Bark Psychosis to me.

I don’t especially like them, but I figured others would.

I don’t really see anything much in common with Spiritualized and the last two Talk Talk albums…maybe I’m missing something? I’ve seen lots of stuff that comes close to the last two Talk Talk albums but the problem is that most of it tends to not have any vocals minus a few like Bark Psychosis or TNP.

I did see some links in early Tindersticks having some jazz instruments and the later Talk Talk. It has that combination of peaceful quiet but shaken vocals I guess.

edit: David Sylvain? Also The Blue Niles have some fan base overlap with Talk Talk.

Have you listened to the two Anjou albums? More centered around ambient / drone and electronics, but they’re very much a progression on the Labradford atmosphere. It’s been a really unexpected treat to hear (two thirds of) them working together again.

Two?! I have one but was not aware of a second. Bobby Donne and Mark Nelson just play some gorgeous shit.

It only came out last week.

The track ‘An Empty Bank’ is a real stand out for me, so far.
