I go through stages of obsessively listening to The Beatles and then the Beach Boys. Looks like its time for the Beatles 2 month obsession

Can’t believe we’re chatting about the Beatles in 2021

the Beatles were fine, and very important

had lots of nice songs

but there are lots of bands who were loads better songwriters/composers/both

Get involved

I’ll add them to the list.

I can hear you in some respects but when I think about most Beatles songs, there isn’t anything really I’d change, not many artists I can say that about. Even lovely Elliott sometimes I wish he was a better lyricist etc

I posted about the experimental Norwegian duo Alog up there ^, but it just got washed away by fresh Beatles chat

Good luck having a run like Revolver> Sgt. Peppers>Magical Mystery Tour>White Album>Yellow Submarine>Let it Be.

I like them

they just aren’t transcendent, for me

their music is like really good confection; good, but there’s not actually much substance

Also I think McCartney seems the nicest and most human of all the mega superstar iconic musicians. He’s definitely a bit weird and cheesy now but it’s remarkable how little he seems warped by fame compared to some.

Some days I definitely agree, I’m just in an open-hearted mood this evening

I’d be very sad if he turned out to be a wrongun. Prepared to accept him being a tax avoiding wanker but nothing beyond that thank you
