Sparbq is a legitimate pun on BBQ and a good one.

They have redeemed themselves somewhat.

#7

Thank you for your response

#8

Steamed hams?

#9

Not having it. It’s either Sparbeque or SBQ. Can’t go mixing real words and acronyms willy nilly.

So nearbq…

#15

 this board having that opinion is wonderful to tbh humble

#16

Rhymes with Beer-B-Q, which is a staggeringly good pun, tbh.

#17

I don’t get how this is a legit pun but so near so spar isn’t, they seem equivalent (assuming that’s why they need redemption)

#18

So near, so far isn’t a phrase.
So near yet so far is a phrase but since it means ‘tough luck’ it would be baffling to apply it to a supermarket via a pun.

Barbecues are things you stock up for from a supermarket so SparBQ works.

Dunno, a cursory google suggests so near so far is a phrase. I don’t think the original phrase has to have any connection to the pun application, like what does a godfather have to do with fish and chips? The only requirement is a word/phrase exists and is altered in a way to refer to another thing
