Passed me by when younger. Son really enjoyed the book and so I read it and thought it was brilliant. Film is fun as well.
They did this in my class last year. Too much digging imo
Oh god. They bored so many holes
Was my favourite book when I was a kid. Film is great too
Just read it last half term. On the residential the kids were all digging holes and pretending they were Zero or Stanley etc which was very lovely to see from kids that otherwise are just trying really hard to be cool all the time
classic #impactofagoodbook
“I can fix that.”
Ace book
Onions! Fresh Onions!
Love this book.
Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.
It is pleasantly unselfconsciously daft.
I like that, particularly in a book for kids. I’ll always take that ahead of pofaced profundity.
Really like the book as a kid, think I’d probably find it a bit too fable-ish and wide-eyed today but still lots of good stuff in it.
Zero said nothing
I think I might prefer the film to the book but both are very, very good.
I had a teacher who hated the book and described it as a ‘anti-book’. I can’t remember the nature of his beef with it
