Oh that sucks!
Hopefully you can work something out! You could go somewhere brilliant on the way to Australia.

Might save up and go to Cardiff for a night soon.

I spent a month in Canada in the summer - flying into and out of Montreal. There are a wealth of options available that won’t involve a ridiculous amount of travel. Toronto would be about a 5-6 hour drive.

If you want something more rural / outdoorsy, then Georgian Bay is beautiful (we stayed in Tobermory); and Alngonquin Park is just amazing, if you want to do a bit of hiking.

we did - went Boston > Cape Cod > Vermont > New Hampshire with a brief visit over to Rhode Island at some point too, was ace. we went in the autumn and stayed in a town in Vermont that was supposed to be super super pretty when all the leaves turn (Woodstock maybe?) but because it had either been drier or wetter (forget which) it meant we missed it and all the leaves had fallen off when we got there :frowning: but it meant that New Hampshire was loads nicer cos their leaves hadn’t gone yet

haven’t been to Niagara Falls though, that’s a good shout

Then you should be holding open a copy of Visser while she does sit-ups towards it, like a Rocky training montage

I wouldn’t stay at the falls but defo stop to do one of the boat tours! It was terrifying and brilliant!

would look to do something like that i think, now having a look at Toronto and other areas (thanks @Petagno and @weeber!)

this was so much easier when my wife worked for a travel company and could get one of the travel people there to sort it all out for us, usually for a discount

I am OBSESSED with planning holidays. We only ever move around, we’ve never stayed in the same place for more than 3 nights I don’t think and I just love investigating places and looking up hotels and things to do. I should 100% have been a travel planner or something like that.

Currently planning out Mexico trip! We won’t be travelling far but still, i’m like “oh lets go here for 1 night then drive here for 2 nights” etc

Anyone been to Lahore? Know someone over there I can stay with. Dunno if I can be arsed though

we’re the same in terms of moving around, just less on the planning! can only think of one holiday in recent memory where we stayed somewhere for a week and that was Lake Como, and half the point was to just stay there for a week and do as much or as little as we could be bothered to do. everything else has been 3 days here, 4 days there.

The internet says that cruises are indeed bad for the environment

(not sure if that still counts if it’s not a cruise though)

Trying to budget out Japan. It shouldn’t be too expensive, should it, if I stick to ramen and onigiri? Do I need to buy a J Rail Pass?

better than planes, worse than trains, I guess like you’d expect, depends how far you go I guess

(I’d go to Bergen)

This is good too, with some example journeys highlighted

If you want to go anywhere then yes - these are the best value thing you can buy for a trip to Japan. Travel aside, accommodation is the main expense in visiting Japan - you can get food and drink surprisingly cheaply :+1:
