policing that troubles me a bit. if someone says they don’t want to be the weight they are, that can’t and shouldn’t be taken as a commentary on others’ weight.

I’ve got a kettlebell, which you can do anywhere and is pretty good. Have just ordered a ‘slamball’ too. Hoping not to kill one of the cats with it.

always worried about swinging it either into my knackers or flinging it at a window by accident.

Fortunately I have the tight knackers of a 14 year old boy.

really hate not having a bench though. chest presses don’t feel the same on the floor.

Did my first run of the year this morning: 3k

Alarm is set for 7 AM every weekday, plan is to be back to the usual 6k roundtrip by the end of the week. We shall see.

I haven’t said people can’t talk about weight loss!
There’s a difference between weight loss talk and derogatory comments about your body.

cw:Fatphobic
For example, when I was at school I was a lot bigger and I used to have my thin friends make these sort of comments about themselves I look so fat and ugly! I feel so fat! God my belly looks huge while I was standing right next to them.

yeah, it’s a difference. i dunno if we’ll see much performative stuff in this thread; i’d hope not as it’s generally people with genuine concerns/misgivings about their body health. if someone does go in that direction a polite reminder that while things are relative there’s also a need for self-awareness def sounds like a good idea

So I managed to hit my 500k running target last year, although it required me doing laps of the park in a fresh snowfall to finish it off :upside_down_face:

Probably going to pitch for 600 this year. Hoping to start soon, the weather is far too mank right now.

And I have seen comments like this in the other fitness threads.

Yeah I’d love a bench. Doing chestercises on the floor feels like it’s doing fuck all. I do flyes on the bed which feels moderately effective.

one of the worst things about using fitness tracking apps it seeing people post a run or a ride with the title “so fat and slow” and their average speed / pace is really… good?

(forever overweight veering into obese person here despite riding, on average, 288km per week last year)

I try to walk at lunch for a bit, but now I rarely make it out in the evening due to darkness and staying on longer than I should.

Has anyone got any good bodyweight videos they could recommend? Ive done one of those and I found it to be ok.

The Fit On app has been so brilliant for me and I am so grateful for it but a couple of the instructors sometimes make comments like ‘get rid of those bingo wings!’ And ‘work on that problem area’ etc and I’m just like, can I please just workout and enjoy taking care of my body without having to hear diet culture/fatphobic bullshit!

Also pregnant people who use the fat hashtag on Instagram can fuck right off

Been really enjoying the trainer-led classes on the Nike Training Club app recently - pushing all my furniture to one side of the room, putting a fun poppy playlist on spotify and getting into it. Think I prefer it to classes at the gym now.
