They did the same at Reading. Have mine stashed away somewhere too, with some British Sea Power mint cake from the same year.

Pretty weird, just been digging round and found this:

Wonder what it’s like 14 years out of date?

Alas, no HOTS picture though. Did find this from October 2004 when they played Leeds Cockpit (RIP) in 2004. Think it was used to wrap a limited edition CD of theirs, but don’t recall what. More digging required.

Wouldn’t fancy it myself… Will have a look for the HOTS drawing next time I’m up in the loft.

Just dug out my copy of Black Dollar Bills (I think they had hand-sewn themselves), which I haven’t listened to in easily over ten years. Still sounds so great. I don’t think their albums were quite as perfect as the EP for me, but will need to have a relisten to them to see what I think now.

I saw them five times in 2003 and once in 2004 - they did a couple of tours as support for The Polyphonic Spree, and a couple of headline gigs also. I remember being at the front of one of the polyphonic spree gigs, and really enjoying HOTS when they were playing. After their set, and before TPS came on stage, Sam squeezed his way through the crowd to come up and thank us for visibly enjoying their music, and seeming so overwhelmed and happy that people were enjoying it. Such a nice thing/memory.

Pretty sure Kendal Mintcake never goes bad if the curiosity or temptation takes you.

Just ordered one of these on Discogs. Wanted one for years!

I might just grab one too.
Think it’s the only thing I don’t have by them.

Hi, yes that was used to wrap a cd called l’ ark pour les enfants terribles. They gave them out to the first people in the queue and it had something like 5 tracks on it I can only the remember the name of one, static in the cities. I would dig it out but it is at my folks. It also had a small poster with it.

I saw HOTS 5 times, first was at glasto 2004 where they were on after killers in the new band stage and there were crowds of people coming down the hill after the killers. Then, the waterfront norwich 27/10/2004. Next was 15/02/2005 at the astoria where they were playing an nme awards gig with the bravery, sons and daughters, and willy mason, saw them again at the waterfront norwich 26/06/2006 when they were touring Left, spoke to Sam a little as he was hanging out at the merch stall. He seemed nice if a little downbeat (the gig wasn’t very well attended). Lastly I saw the last gig at Reading Festival August 2006 in the nme stage. I nearly didn’t go but a mate said that they had announced they were calling it a day. They seemed a bit emotional and they said loads of equipment had broken as usual, I was glad I was there.

Yeah, that rings a bell. Orange and grey/blue sleeve? Must have it somewhere. Was definitely a big fan, so queuing up early like a dork seems likely. Saw them twice at the Cockpit and they were absolutely brilliant gigs. Small, sweaty, loud, and they were fantastic live, all crammed on the stage and absolutely ripping it.

That’s the one, orange Cross on one side with lyrics I think. Then maybe a grey logo on black background on the other.

I went to that

Right i’m sure i remember going to see them in 2002ish at the leadmill in sheffield.
It was an NME or other publication new band tour.
They were bottom of the bill and played the smaller of the 2 rooms.

The other bands were something like, franz ferdinand, hot hot heat, the sleepy jackson.

Feel like i’m going mad can’t find any record of it anywhere

Definitely remember something involving them the nme and sleepy Jackson. Thought polyphonic spree and someone else was on the bill though

Anyone fancy uploading the demos and bsides?

Yeah that’s the one.

Sure i saw them the year after and sleepy jackson were supporting them despite them being higher up the bill the year before

Im happy to send what ive got via dropbox although i did lose a few b sides a while ago

That’d be super
