I went through a phase of being obsessed with jelly tots and buying them on the walk home from school. One day I bought a giant bag of them and was mindlessly eating them, then got home to find that I didn’t have my keys and no-one was home. I sat on the doorstep for an hour eating jelly tots out of boredom, and all the sugar cut my tongue :frowning: NEVER AGAIN.

Glad would give up HOUMOUS

According to google hummus is American English and houmous is english so I’ll take that as a win.

I thought you were going to tell me you found a severed finger in a packet or something

Still, I’m sorry. That’s not nice. The sugar tongue cutting thing was a problem for me often too!

They were my 3rd favourite sweet when I was little.

  1. Skittles
  2. tooty frooties
  3. Jelly Tots.

What’s the current top three?

I always took hummus to refer to the soil layer and houmous to be the food, but i don’t even know anymore.

According to our local Middle Eastern restaurants the spelling depends on the level of hipster-ness:

Nope the soil component is humus, and since it doesn’t originate from the middle east there aren’t a billion different spellings of it that people are prepared to wipe each other out over.

That’s humus, my man.

Taste pretty much the same, mind you…

I don’t really get it. I prefer chocolate as a solid, maybe a gas at a push

Every day is a school day, thanks!

Edit - Not being sarky, I actually have been confused by that for ages.

I mean, I’m all for an obscure ingredient or two. But wtf is zhug?
