from here out itā€™s possible that Iā€™ve listened to ā€¦ half the remaining albums once each? interesting times

also - STG being the compilation of 90s EPs that came out a few years ago

  • do Scalping the Guru in the main album list (after Tremblers)
  • do it at the end with King Shit, T&TC etc

Ooof, that is one brutal rating for Mirrored Aztec. I gave it a slightly over-generous 6/10, reckon it would be below 4.00 if not for that :open_mouth:

after the way you wrote about it yeah a 6 is a big score!

despite the fact theyā€™re my fav band ever I think Iā€™m more critical than some here, hadnā€™t @Icarus-Smicarus not gone below a 6 yet lol? Iā€™ve had multiple 3s!

only been half listening while working - thought Styles opened really poorly but had some cool sounding stuff in the last third or so. Good restrained closer too

Weā€™re right at the point now where I lost interest in giving anything a second listen on release so we might see some lower scores

as i said for Mirrored Aztec, a success at this stage for me is 3-5 fun songs I want to come back to. Theyā€™ve got over 20 albums I love to listen to in full by now, donā€™t need any more! (though would love a surprise masterpiece ā€¦ )

My memory of Styles was that it was a decent album, not a classic but much more enjoyable than Aztec. Wild to think it came out only about three or four months later.

Iā€™ll give it a listen later & will report back :+1:

To Keep An Area is still completely stuck in my head

realise it also has a bit of Girls of Wild Strawberries to it

I remember being pleasantly surprised when this first came out, Iā€™m hoping not necessarily in the context of losing faith after MA. Anyway Iā€™ll revisit this afternoon and also report back.

Styles We Paid For - first listen: seems somehow pretty decent (especially in comparison with Mirrored Aztec), despite not being especially memorable or even particularly energetic. Some of the lyrics stood out to me as being quite amusing as I was listening - lyrics arenā€™t normally the first thing that strikes me in-, although Iā€™d have to relisten to say which songs they were on. Probably wonā€™t end up thinking of this as a classic overall, but actually think I might be into the tracks straddling the line between ominous and lethargic. Especially stuff like Slaughterhouse, where it seems intentional.
