I’ve just taken someone to court and so am quite familiar with the process, they would have to send you a letter before claim first which would give you at leat 2 weeks to pay with no extra cost, then if they go ahead with the claim you would be liable for the fee which is £35 (sliding scale but based on £200), you can then admit the claim, admit part of the claim, or defend it, if this results in it goes to court (which it won’t if you admit it) it is another hearing fee £55 I think, plus up to £95 for their day off/annual leave plus their travel. So really there is no risk if you wait for the letter, and the big risk of costs of court can be avoided even if they do proceed as you can pay at anytime (would have to pay the £35 though)
