Pretty much have complete autonomy over my job so I like to organise this to ‘busy but manageable’. Unfortunately I like to spend too much time at work dicking around on the internet so I’m in a permanent state of ‘too fucking busy’ instead. Maybe I do it unconsciously because I like being very busy because it feels like I’m doing stuff. I dunno.

Couple of surprises in there, won’t spoil it though!

7/10, didn’t get Mongolia, Ethiopia or Kazakhstan

On average, 7/10 with the odd 9 and 10 spikes to keep me on my toes. The more I have to do, the more productive I am. The last couple of months I’ve had very little to do, no strict deadlines in which to do it, and a consistent stream of good feedback. Combined with being on a day rate, so feeling like I’m pulling a con whenever I have a really unproductive day, and it’s been a recipe for anxiety. Much prefer to be busy and feel like I’ve actually earned my evenings and weekends.

8/10. Missed number 2 though. Productive.

8/10 missed Ethiopia and Mexico.

gah,

u got colombia but not mexico? fascinating

I work in IT. Ticking over is fine. The worst is dealing with one important thing and someone calls wanting instant solutions on another problem. As in there and then, them on the phone. It isn’t quite how it works, we need to get it logged, log on remotely, get all the errors, faff about with connectivity or work here or whatever needs to be done. That rather than talking them through clicking on icons and entering commands their end. Same when they get obsessed with “sending an engineer” even if that takes a day and they can’t see or do any more than we can remotely.

Towards the end of my office job, I was clocking about 6-7 hours a day on dis and started to feel a bit depressed.

Just ran out of time. It took me a while to realise that the Americas were going to be fertile ground, and then I just started listing them from memory, and never got far enough north.

But seriously, Ethiopia??! wtf?

I can easily do a full day where the only thing I do is read this site. Not good for the soul, but I wouldn’t say it makes me depressed.

Like to be kept ticking over. If I have to many calls in a day I go a bit nuts though. enjoy the admin work and work with the library though as I can go at my own pace then.

Basically as long as I have time to go on the Internet for around an hour during the day to catch up with news and DiS I’m happy.
