Actually this is a better version of that explanation and has screengrabs and download:

how do you emulate a touch screen though

DraStic handles this by having the 2nd analog stick maoevure the stylus/hand and use one of the shoulder buttons to ‘touch’ the screen.

Emulators are legal, illegally obtained roms arent. Would you mind recommending the guy an emulator  but not a nasty illegal rom site

You have a 4 to cv 2 and 64? Youre a monster

I believe I use DSemu but it’s been ages since I played anything on it and on a different laptop so I can’t be sure.

Good scoring everyone.
Reckon Rondo and Bloodlines were a little underrated here (and in general).
Aria and Dawn of Sorrow probs would have scored 4+.
Thanks to @Yesiamaduck for taking my suggestion to cover this series.
Currently doing a replay of the series and have been looking into the romhacking end of things to see the things fans have come up with.
The ‘fixed’ version of Simon’s Quest seems fine and then I found this:
castlevaniaholyrelics
A brand new classic NES Castlevania game made by fans by doing romhacks.
New levels, enemies etc.

Oh and here’s another recommendation:
It’s not a Castlevania title but in the same ballpark.
Made by Konami and plays like a more accessible Castlevania crossed with Micro Machines style asthetic (small characters in a real house, fight Abominable Snowman in the fridge for example) and has 2 player co-op and is based on the cartoon and toy fad that is: Monster In My Pocket (oooooh matron!)

The control frustration reaches boiling point for me a lot of the time in the older games. It’s not that I have a hard time beating the game, but when it’s shit like knockback or not being able to change direction mid-jump, I have to turn them off. It took them 4 games to get it right

There are rom hacks that sort knockback and jumping direction for the earlier games, at the time it was just part of the challenge though.
Medusa Heads can fuck off obviously.
Kind of surprised none of the games after (bar maybe Aria/Dawn Julius) had the 8 direction whipping.
