Started playing Castlevania Chronicles last week. Recommended as it’s a classic Castlevania game made at same time as SCIV and Bloodline but is barely know as it came out on the Sharp x6800 in Japan back then. Came out in the west on PS1 in the earlyy 2000s but was low key. Definitely work a look, its a reimaging of the first Castlevania but is very diff and diff from SCIV.
Just noticed the Castlevania collections are on offer on PSN at the moment if anyone wants to have a go/replay them
Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow are very good games and worth adding in to the poll? And Order of Ecclesia too.
Soma Cruz is great and playing in ‘Julius Mode’
Just remembered how hilariously bad castlevania 64 was. Wowe.
So bad they released the ‘fixed’ version of it less than a year later, with a new title and at full price.
Ok hold the fucking phone
@Yesiamaduck there’s an issue here. How on earth do you do a HFWI Castlevania post without including Aria/Dawn of Sorrow? They’re literally the best ones!
Yourself and @xylo have gone up in my estimations (again) today I want Iga back to do a Castlevania '99 to fill that series out.
I could write all day about the classic trilogy - flawed masterpieces. Except Simon’s Quest, but only because I’ve never actually played it. SCIV is 6/5 I have played SoTN once, enjoyed it but it was far too easy. The N64 games don’t exist Haven’t played the DS games only due to never owning the hardware
Lucky!
I watch AVGN’s video every few months, that’s all I need to know
for real, not one to judge from someone else’s opinion, but he’s definitely qualified to give the consensus
Emulators m4
(Don’t ever use emulators obviously they are illegal and mean and bad)
It’s so bad the mucked up the endings! Good ideas poor execution and obviously a shit translation job and the villagers all being lying cunts is a hamper. Apparently theres a fan version that fixes all of the issues so may be worth looking into?
Yes they are bad! goes back to playing turbografx version of Rondo of Blood on his hacked Snes Mini
I’d be into that
One such version:
Actually this is a better version of that explanation and has screengrabs and download: http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Games/Hacking/Hacks/SimonsRedaction.html
how do you emulate a touch screen though
DraStic handles this by having the 2nd analog stick maoevure the stylus/hand and use one of the shoulder buttons to ‘touch’ the screen.
