Not played them all but Red Alert 2 was fucking amazing.

Would bloody love a modern day equivalent

Never had games on the PC, played a bit of C&C at a mate’s house, only really remember the spider robots that could jump into things to destroy them? They were fucking cool.

Think I preferred Age of Empires generally.

Side note: I always got really salty at how shit their interpretation of Brighton Pier was in Red Alert 3 when the soviets invaded Brighton :frowning:

You missed the best line delivery in video game historyh

Ctrl+F “Switch”

:disappointed:

You make football manager, you MUST have a PC

You’d have thought so…

(Mac only innit and also my actual home machine is about a decade old now)

Well thats the price you pay for relying on a fruit to make your computer

I was always a Warcraft girl so I’m gonna abstain

Definitely want to get through the C&C series at some point though. So many games, so many games.

Just go straight to Red Alert 2, its glorious

Unless you want to see Tim Curry ham it up in cheesy cutscenes. Then you want RA 3

Not that RA 2 didnt also ham it up with its cutscenes

the cast of red alert 3 is absolutely nuts

I’m a nerd that likes to take in franchises in order so I can see the way things develop and improve over time :flushed:

erases the first 3 games from history

Ah… the glory days of the RTS, when a new ‘best of the genre’ came out pretty much every year in the mid-late 90’s, and Blizzard, Westwood and Cavedog duked it out.

Dune 2, then C&C, then Red Alert, then Total Annihilation, then Starcraft, all had their time in the sun for our LAN parties.

Preferred Total Annihilation, personally.

I find RTS games really difficult to enjoy nowadays because I find it impossible to play them without reading around min-maxing stuff but I’m not good enough/don’t care enough to actually do the reading, so I end up feeling really unsatisfied with the whole experience.

Fuck min maxing. Just build 30 kirovs and blow shit up
