The journey to get a chocobo so you can get past the Midgar Zolom is a ninety-six-hour odyssey of its very own, complete with pointless-looking sidequests (this is what is worrying me – original FF7 was all about the weird secrets and mysteries of the world… I hope that’s not all dashed in favour of static NPCs hoisting off variations on “WILL ACCEPT ANIMAL SKINS FOR CONTENT”)

Is there any reason for them to do a demo for this? Honest question. People are always saying that demos typically reduce sales of games and it’s a well known franchise and a remake of one of the most beloved games ever, so it’s not like it needed exposure. Just seems strange.

I think it’s probably to get people who dropped off from the series. Like VII is the best-known one, I can imagine people who haven’t played one in a while maybe wanting to get their head round any new systems (I know I wouldn’t mind, having been irked by 12 being a bit guh)

Nope.
Couldn’t be arsed.
I’d have been happy with the original game just getting an hd graphics overall and the FMV scenes all getting updated but with all the gameplay and systems essentially the same (bar a few updates and QoL stuff).
